Breast Lift

A breast lift is an operation for women who are happy with the size of their breasts but not with their shape or firmness. No breast tissue is removed — the gland is reshaped, excess skin is reduced, and the areola moves to a new position.

When the size is right but the shape isn't

After breastfeeding, more significant weight loss, or through natural ageing, the breasts lose their firmness and begin to sag. A breast lift restores a firm, symmetrical shape and improves the overall projection of the breast — without removing any breast tissue. Your breasts remain your own, only firmer and sitting higher.

It's right for you if…

  • you are 18 or older and your mammary gland is fully developed,
  • you are happy with the size of your breasts, but not with their shape or firmness,
  • your breasts have dropped after breastfeeding or more significant weight loss,
  • your breasts have lost their original shape through natural ageing.
  • We do not recommend the procedure for women who are still planning to breastfeed, and we do not perform it before the age of 18, while the mammary gland is still developing.

Shape without removing tissue

In a breast lift, no breast tissue is removed — the gland is simply reshaped into its new form. Excess skin is reduced, and the areola is made smaller and placed in a new, higher position. The result is improved overall projection of the breast: a firm, symmetrical shape.

The surgeon chooses the technique and course of the operation individually, taking into account breast size and the desired result. A breast lift can also be combined with breast augmentation using silicone implants — both in a single operation.

It all starts with a consultation

A thorough consultation with the surgeon comes first: they assess the shape, firmness, and symmetry of your breasts and the position of the areolas. The surgeon explains the course of the operation, the placement of the incisions, the aftercare regimen, and the possible risks — and together you discuss whether to combine the lift with implants. The consultation is free and carries no obligation.

Five steps to a firmer shape

The procedure is performed in an operating theatre under sterile conditions, under general anaesthesia. The operation takes approximately 2.5 hours and involves an overnight stay at the clinic.

  1. 01

    General anaesthesia

You sleep through the entire operation under general anaesthesia, in the care of an anaesthetist — you feel no pain during the procedure.

  2. 02

    Placing the incisions

The surgeon most often makes three incisions: around the nipple, from there down to the fold beneath the breast, and horizontally along the inframammary fold. The exact placement is chosen individually, based on breast size and the desired result.

  3. 03

    Reshaping the gland

No breast tissue is removed — the gland is reshaped into its new form. The surgeon reduces the excess skin, makes the areola smaller, and places it in a new, higher position.

  4. 04

    Stitches and sterile dressing

At the end of the operation, the wounds are closed with fine stitches and covered with a sterile dressing.

  5. 05

    A night at the clinic

After the operation you stay at the clinic in post-operative care for 1 day (overnight). The next day the surgeon changes the dressings and discharges you into home care.

What to expect after the procedure

Day 0–1

You spend the night after the operation at the clinic in post-operative care. The next day the surgeon changes the dressings and discharges you into home care.

Week 1

Take it easy. Avoid sunbathing and freezing environments — the breasts are swollen, bruised, and tender.

Week 2

Swelling, bruising, and tenderness usually subside, and you can return to work.

Weeks 4–6

You keep wearing the special elastic bra. For the full 6 weeks, avoid sport, heavier physical exertion, and lifting heavy objects — and do not sleep on your stomach.

Months 2–3

Once healed, the breasts gradually settle into their final shape — the result is therefore assessed only after the swelling has fully subsided.

Follow-up check-ups are arranged individually with your surgeon. Healing varies from person to person — always pace your return to everyday activities according to your surgeon's advice.

Time, breastfeeding, and weight changes can rob the breasts of their shape. A breast lift gives it back.

We speak openly with you

After the operation, expect swelling, bruising, and breast tenderness. These effects usually disappear within 2 weeks.

As with any operation, complications may rarely occur — a haematoma (a collection of blood), a seroma (a build-up of tissue fluid), infection, or impaired wound healing, most often where the scars beneath the breast meet. The risk is reduced by a gentle surgical technique, the elastic bra, and following the aftercare regimen.

Two weeks before the operation

A breast lift is performed under general anaesthesia, so the related pre-operative examinations are required. We will explain everything you need at your consultation.

To reduce excessive bleeding, do not take any medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) — such as Acylpyrin, Aspirin, or Anopyrin — for about 2 weeks before the operation.

In our patients' words

A selection of reviews from Google and Firmy.cz.

A week ago I had a breast lift and reduction and liposuction of my abdomen and hips. Dr. Novák operated on me. I am completely satisfied, the operation went perfectly and the doctor is incredibly kind, human, funny .. I recommend him wholeheartedly.

Frequently asked questions — breast lift

Most often, three incisions are made: around the areola, vertically down from it, and horizontally along the inframammary fold — together, the resulting scars resemble the shape of an anchor. They are red at first, then fade and mature over time. The scar in the fold is also hidden by the breast itself and by underwear.
A breast lift improves the shape and firmness of the breasts, but it does not change their volume. If you also wish to enlarge your breasts, the lift can be combined with augmentation using silicone implants in a single operation. Which path to take is something you decide together with the surgeon at a free consultation.
Most women return to work 2 weeks after the operation. Avoid sport, heavier physical exertion, and lifting heavy objects for the first 6 weeks — and do not sleep on your stomach for the same period.
A breast lift involves the mammary gland and the area of the areola, so it may affect your ability to breastfeed. We do not recommend the procedure for women who are still planning to breastfeed — it is better to wait until your family is complete.
No breast tissue is removed during a lift, so the volume of the breasts stays practically the same. Thanks to the reduction of excess skin and the new, firmer shape, however, the breasts may appear slightly smaller and sit higher.
A temporary change in the sensitivity of the nipples and areolas is common after the operation — sensitivity may be reduced or, on the contrary, heightened for a while. It usually returns to normal gradually as healing progresses.
The special elastic bra holds the breasts in their new position, eases swelling, and supports undisturbed healing of the wounds. It is worn for 4–6 weeks, as advised by your surgeon.
After the operation you stay at the clinic in post-operative care for 1 day (overnight). The next day the surgeon changes the dressings and discharges you into home care. Expect swelling, bruising, and breast tenderness for about 2 weeks.
The result of a breast lift is long-lasting, but the breasts remain subject to natural influences — gravity, ageing, weight fluctuations, or a possible pregnancy. A stable weight and a good, supportive bra help maintain the shape for as long as possible.
Yes. A breast lift can be performed in combination with augmentation using silicone implants — both take place in a single operation, with one anaesthetic and one recovery. The right type and size of implants is something the surgeon will discuss with you at your consultation.
